Welcome Adam J. Bock to Coursebirdie
Today, we’re thrilled to announce an amazing addition to our board of advisors. We’re proud to welcome Adam J. Bock!
Adam J. Bock is Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at The University of Edinburgh Business School. He is a Member of the Royal Society of Edinburgh Young Academy and a Visiting Fellow at Imperial College Business School (London). His research focuses on technology entrepreneurship and business models. He was one of 25 experts on entrepreneurship invited to the MIT/Skoltech Entrepreneurship IdeasLab in Moscow in 2013. He is the Deputy Director of a new EPSRC-funded Centre for Doctoral Training at the University of Edinburgh focused on Optical Medical Imaging and Entrepreneurship. Adam’s background includes entrepreneurial management and finance. He is the co-Founder of two medical device companies spun-out of university research programs, and the Founding CEO of a third. He also facilitated approximately US$10 million of direct and indirect angel investment while serving as Manager of Early Stage Research, LLC (Madison, WI, USA).
He has taught entrepreneurship and strategic management courses at the University of Wisconsin – Madison School of Business and has given dozens of executive seminars on venture and technology evaluation and private financing. He has consulted on technology transfer and the venture start-up process for universities, corporations, and entrepreneurs.
Adam joined the University of Edinburgh in November 2010. He received a B.S. in Aeronautical Engineering and a B.A. in Quantitative Economics from Stanford University. He holds an MBA in Entrepreneurship from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business. His doctoral research at Imperial College London focused on business models and entrepreneurial narratives.
